# Practical Labs

10 lab exercises. Real, hands-on labs are possible only for FP-8A, FP-12A, FX-4 (the 3 SKUs with
) and the 6 vehicle trims with real speaker-architecture data — every other
lab is marked PENDING rather than built around an assumed setup.

## Lab 1: DSP Tuning (FP-8A or FP-12A)

Using the real EQ specs (FP-8A: 31-band, -12/+12dB, 0.1dB steps; FP-12A: 31-band, -20/+20dB),
apply a 3dB cut at 2kHz and a 2dB boost at 8kHz. Verify against the manual's documented
Frequency Range (20Hz-20kHz, 1Hz accuracy).

## Lab 2: Gain Setting (FX-4)

Starting from the documented Input Sensitivity range (380mV-7.5V), set gain using the real
troubleshooting guidance: "if overloaded, turn the gain control to 'min' until the operation is
free of trouble." Practice identifying the audible symptom of an overloaded gain setting
(distortion, per the real Common Mistakes entry).

## Lab 3: Time Alignment (FP-8A or FP-12A)

Using the real range (FP-8A: 0-13.000ms/0-442cm; FP-12A: 0-15.000ms/0-500cm), measure listener-
to-speaker distance for a 4-speaker layout and compute the correct delay per channel.

## Lab 4: Phase Adjustment (FP-8A or FP-12A)

Real range: 0°-180°, In Phase or Out Phase, per output channel. Lab: identify a deliberately
out-of-phase channel by ear and correct it using the documented adjustment range.

## Lab 5: EQ Practice

Use the real per-SKU EQ specs (see Lab 1) to correct a simulated frequency-response dip.

## Lab 6: Signal Tracing (FX-4 install)

Trace the real FX-4 signal path: RCA/High-Level input → gain stage → protection circuit →
speaker output, using the real Hardware Interface content. Identify where a "No Sound" symptom
(per Lesson 2) could interrupt this path.

## Lab 7: Noise Diagnosis (FX-4)

Reproduce the real Interference-page guidance: separate power/speaker cables from signal
cables; add a choke if ignition noise persists; add ground cables if humming persists. Lab:
given a simulated noisy install, apply the 3 real fixes in order and note which resolves it.

## Lab 8: Installation Inspection (FX-4 or FP-8A/FP-12A)

Using the real checklist in `` (fuse ≤30cm from battery, negative ground,
correct AWG per the two documented figures, cable separation), inspect a completed install and
flag any deviation.

## Lab 9: Vehicle Analysis

Using the 6 vehicle trims with real Audio Architecture data (2 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, 4
VinFast), identify the documented OEM system type (MOST for Mercedes-Benz; none confirmed for
VinFast) and any known data discrepancy (VF8 Eco/Plus speaker-count mismatch). For all other 43
trims: PENDING VERIFICATION — no real architecture data to analyze.

## Lab 10: Dealer Scenarios

Role-play the 10 real troubleshooting symptoms in `` as customer
walk-ins; the trainee must resolve using only the cited real manual text, escalating (not
guessing) for any symptom outside the 10.

## What's not labbable

Every Class D amplifier, all 25 Speaker/Subwoofer SKUs, and 43/49 vehicle trims have no real
hands-on procedural content — labs for these would require inventing a setup, which this
Academy does not do. See `` for what would need to be produced
first (real manuals, real installation guides) before these labs could exist.
